Thomas' Meeting Minutes
Organizing Meeting
(3/1):
1. Media Policy
2. Vision Statement
3. Committees
4.
Agenda for Next Meeting
1. Media Policy
- There will be a city-wide
Tent State meeting. The meeting is planned for Monday, March 5 at 6:00 @ the
Student Org Center in the Coeur de Catherine (CdC) on the College of St.
Catherine campus
- ideas for media policy would be St. Kate's idea of having
a Sock Puppet as the President or Dean of Tent State
- have a few liaisons
that people would direct media to, there would need to be trainings for
this
- the liaisons could also talk through the puppet
2. Vision
Statement
- we need a vision statement that is specific to the climate at St.
Thomas
- it can be a short "call to action/about Tent State" that we can
present to groups on campus that we want to get involved
- X and X were going
to draft and email a copy of the Vision statement. Everyone should look over it
and add any suggestions or make any changes to it
- Vision Statement will be
brought to the meeting next week, and we can pass it as a group
3.
Committees
- we will need committees to break up the work that will need to
get done
- people aren't pigeonholed to a specific committee, but we will
need people to bottom-line projects
- if there are any suggestions to add,
alter, or delete committees, send them to the group
This is what we came up
with so far
i) liaisons: coordinating with other campuses,
going to city-wide meetings, dealing with media
ii) events
committee: contact person for other clubs, coordinating schedule for all of the
events
iii) logistics: getting tents, food, PA/speakers,
etc.
iv) outreach: promotion (flyers, banners, posters,
chalking), contacting
other groups on ACTC campuses, and community
orgs
v) administration: looking into getting approval,
etc.
4. Non-Education Events
- need events that are not all about
learning and education
- get music dept, radio club, and theater
involved
- have a water balloon fight between college democrats and
republicans
- add an anti-authoritarian/@-political column to the
fray
- challenge the administration to a water balloon fight
5. Agenda
for next meeting (email me if you want to add anything)
- A Tent Stater will
facilitate, does anyone want to take notes?
1. Vision Statement: draft
will be presented, discussion/last minute changes
2. Administration
Discussion: whether we should seek approval or not
3. Tasks: what do we
need to do for Tent State to happen?
4. Committees: assign tasks to
committees and persons
5. Meeting times: discuss how the Wed. meetings
work, whether we need more time, and when committees will meet
