Thomas' Vision
Here is the current vision of Tent State University at St. Thomas.
UST Tent State University
Vision Statement
Tent State a growing student led movement that challenges the current
state of education in America. Today, higher education has become
a necessary tool to succeed economically but has become increasingly
unavailable. Education is a fundamental right and Tent State
demands that it be accessible to all regardless financial and social
placement. TSU recognizes unreasonable tuition as means of
perpetuating class and race inequality and as a threat to
democracy. Tent State lays the foundation for a movement that
works to change the balance of priorities in a nation that consistently
under values education and other social rights such as health care,
social security, and job training.
On April 12th we the students and faculty will gather to on campus
address these issues through an alternative model of education. This
model will challenge hierarchal conventions through the building of a
diverse and open student community. Tent State aims to actually
engage students through discussions, teach-ins, student sponsored
speakers, and entertainment dealing with the issues surrounding access
to higher education, diversity, student power, student life and common
concerns.
